Yamaha Vmax first news from Australia 2008

The original V-MAX V4-powered, shaft-driven roadster achieved cult status when it was launched in 1985.

For some years it has not been available in Australia and overseas it had only one minor upgrade in 1993 with a larger set of forks and four-piston brake calipers.

Now it has received a major update and returns to Australian showrooms at $29,850 in limited numbers.

The V4 has been retained, but it now comes with fuel injection, chip controlled intake and throttle that deliver 150kW of power and 166Nm of torque.

Because the bike has arrived in limited numbers, Yamaha is asking for a $2000 deposit to secure an order.

Customers will also receive two individual serial number plates to attach to the bike and a coffee table VMAX book.
